A British Racing School (BRS) training course is not an end in itself – it provides a gateway to a career in horse racing

At the BRS we’re proud to sit at the heart of UK horseracing industry and deliver high quality training education on the behalf of the sport.

We believe strongly that starting a career in horse racing shouldn’t be the preserve of those who have a family involvement with horse racing or an equestrian background; it should be open to anyone who has the passion, determination and dedication to work in this great sport. Our commitment to this belief is part of what makes us the UK’s leading racing school.

A BRS education has the power to transform lives. Bringing bright and able young people together from different backgrounds is important for us all. It enriches the whole community and reinforces the aspirational and inclusive ethos of the School.

We are committed to providing access to our programmes to every community in the UK so that young people are empowered to build bright futures in the horse racing industry, regardless of their background or circumstances.

“I just wanted to put in writing how impressed I am in the change in R since she has been at the British Racing School. It is a pleasure to work with you and I haven’t worked with an organisation that is so passionate about young people. You truly believe in young people and the potential they all have, even if they can’t see it themselves.  Thank you again for all you are doing and will continue to do for R.”

How can you help?

Training courses at the British Racing School provide opportunities that transform lives and raise aspirations, but our vision can only be realised through the help of our friends and supporters. We rely on donations and legacies to maintain and improve our world class facilities and to provide the equipment needed to train young people to ride and care for racehorses.

We are also fundraising for an outreach programme, designed to ensure that the opportunities our training provides can benefit all young people including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and inner cities who may never have considered working with horses.

Help at every level is greatly appreciated, from gifts to fund new equipment to regular giving to support our outreach work. Any and all gifts of any size are very welcome.

We want to celebrate the support we receive, but of course we want to know your wishes regarding your privacy, and we will respect them wholeheartedly.

Leaving a legacy Gift to the BRS

Friends of the School may find that choosing to support the BRS with a legacy gift will enable them to make a more significant gift than they could during their lifetime. We deeply appreciate this thoughtful consideration of investment in the future of generations of young people entering the sport of horse racing.

By remembering the British Racing School in your Will, Your support can live on through the lives, careers and dreams of the next generation of talented young people in our great sport.

We would ask that you consider a gift at a level that is most appropriate to your own situation. Every gift of whatever size makes a real difference to the young people supported by our programmes.

We understand that your Will is private and we will never ask how much you have pledged. However, we will be pleased to talk to you about your legacy wishes and intentions. This conversation will help us to understand what you would like your legacy gift to achieve and to ensure that it is used in the way you intend. This will also give us the opportunity to acknowledge your decision and thank you. We will always respect your wishes and understand if you would prefer to remain anonymous.

LEGACY ADVICE

As your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever make, BRS recommends that you consult your legal advisers before drafting a new Will, updating an existing one or making other plans for your estate. Your solicitor should be able to advise you regarding the specific wording for your Will, or about adding a codicil to an existing Will.

We are unable to offer legal or financial advice but our Finance Director can answer questions about legacies in general. If you choose to amend your Will with a codicil form please do contact us and we can supply one to you.

For general information about making a charitable donation in your Will, please visit Remember a Charity, part of the Institute of Fundraising and a registered charity.

If you would like to discuss a donation or legacy in more detail, please contact Andrew Braithwaite, Finance Director, by calling 01638 665103 or email Andrew.Braithwaite@brs.org.uk
