Our inclusive approach enables us to create a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, or ability.

From our broad array of programs to our targeted initiatives and strategic partnerships, we strive to break down barriers, challenge biases and create a level playing field for everyone who dreams of a career in racing. This commitment not only extends to aspiring riders and trainers but also to the array of professionals who make the racing industry the vibrant, dynamic sphere that it is.

As we strive towards a more inclusive future, we invite you to be part of our journey, contributing to a racing industry that is not only successful but also equitable, diverse and truly representative of our global community.

Pastoral Care

The mental health benefits of spending time with horses are well documented, but we know that sometimes, the young people who attend the School need a little extra support.

While resident at The British Racing School, the students are in the care of a range of pastoral care experts, and the School places a huge importance in caring for their residents in this way. Should they be required, the students have a range of accessible options to help support their emotional wellbeing:

  • A team of qualified nurses on site Monday-Friday
  • Designated safe-guarding team consistently on call for students
  • A safe-guarding point of contact available with immediate effect if required
  • Free of charge text service for students with a response time of 15 minutes maximum
  • 24 hour hostel wardens
  • Highly trained pastoral care professional available outside working hours
  • A wonderful and friendly team of staff who are all available for students who need them

Mental health care is a priority for the School and all students are made aware of the support options as soon as they enrol on their course.

The wider racing industry strives to offer available pastoral care to all staff members, and the Racing Welfare helplines are continuously manned. The Racing Chaplain is a regular visitor to BRS and is a friend and confidant to many students, past and present. The BRS workplace instructors are in regular contact with recent graduates of the School as they begin their racing career, and are able to support them pastorally as well as with their ongoing studies.
