Director of Education

The British Racing School is a major training provider for the racing industry. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the role sits within the Senior Management Team providing leadership and direction for the school. They will lead the team responsible for all training and education from our primary schools programme through to advanced apprenticeships. They will have the skills to drive continued improvements to the school’s training.

An extensive knowledge and practical experience of working in a racing yard is essential along with experience in a high-level coaching environment. A Level 3 Diploma in Racehorse Care and Management is a fundamental requirement of the role and teaching and coaching qualifications are desirable.

This is a full-time position, usually working a 35 hr week, Monday to Friday, however some flexibility around the hours worked will be required. Some remote working may be possible but the role will mainly be based in person at the school in Newmarket. A salary commensurate with a senior position together with a generous pension scheme and private health care plan are offered.

Trainee Teacher

£23,000 per annum starting salary (we will consider a qualified teacher for the role at a higher salary)

The British Racing School is providing an opportunity for an experienced Tutor/Learning Support Assistant to gain formal teaching qualifications while they help with the delivery of maths and/or English. This is part of the Taking Teaching Further programme which means the successful candidate will be paid while they work at the BRS, and they will gain the teaching qualifications free of charge.

Normal working hours will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, however we will consider job share or part time role.

We run a rolling programme all year round, we do not follow a standard school year and the standard age for the group is 16-25 years old. Candidates should have experience in the delivery of English and/or maths and experience in the racing industry would be desirable but not essential. The British Racing School is an equal opportunities employer. We take the safeguarding of our trainees very seriously, the successful candidate will be required to provide 2 references, undergo a DBS check and all qualifications will be clarified with the awarding body, additionally we will carry out a light search online.
