British Racing School Pony Racing at Chelmsford City Racecourse

On Saturday 17 May the British Racing School is hosting its very first every Pony Club pony racing day at Chelmsford City Racecourse. The day will attract young people from surrounding counties, some of whom will be trying out pony racing for the first time, including some of the BRS’s own Pony racing Academy students. the overall aim is to attract a greater number of young people into horseracing through more pony racing opportunities.

The organisers of the event reserve the right to cancel the event or any race, to alter the advertised times, to divide any race, to refuse entry with or without stating a reason and to correct any entry which does not comply with the stated conditions.

ENTRY CONDITIONS

·        Photographic Rights – competitors and their parents/guardians have given permission for any photographic and/or film or TV footage taken of persons or horses/ponies taking part in Pony Club events to be used and published in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of the Pony Club and/or Official Sponsors of the Pony Club.

 

·        All ponies must have received, as a minimum, their annual vaccination no more than 6 months  + 21 days prior to the date of the race meeting.

Ponies that had a compliant record (using old intervals and 12-month boosters) to have had a booster vaccination within 6 months of 07.10.2024, otherwise a restart (using new intervals) is required.

All primary courses started in 2022 or after must have followed the new vaccination intervals (V1-V2 21-60d: V2-V3 120-180d)

A valid passport and vaccination record must accompany the horse/pony to the event and must be available for inspection on the day by event officials and vet.  A photo of the identity page and vaccination page must also be submitted at time of entry to be checked by the organiser.  Please read the https://resources.pcuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/The-Pony-Club-Equine-Influenza-VACCINATION-RULE-.pdf

 

 

·        Ponies may not be vaccinated in the seven-day period before raceday.  Please contact organisers for any queries.

ENTRIES:

All entries should be made online via https://entrymaster.co.uk/pages/pony-club-events

This is a single booking form process and entries will not be confirmed without payment, a valid membership number and an upload of the identity and vaccination pages.  DC approval is also required, and this will be checked before the raceday.

If you would like to change race or any further details, you can do this up to the closing date through your ENTRYMASTER account.

ENTRIES TO BE MADE VIA ENTRYMASTER, TO ENABLE YOU TO COMPLETE YOUR ENTRY, YOU WILL NEED TO UPLOAD TH COLOURED-IN ONLINE COLOURS/INFORMATION SHEET OR DETAILED RESPONSE TO THE COLOURS QUESTIONS, TOGETHER WITH THE NAME PAGE AND PROOF OF VACCINATION DATE PAGES OF EACH PONY’S PASSPORT TO THE WEBSITE.  SO PLEASE HAVE THESE READY AS YOU ENTER.  IF THESE ARE NOT CLEAR ENOUGH, YOU WILL NEED TO POST COPIES TO THE ENTRIES SECRETARY AT THE ADDRESS ABOVE.  INCOMPLETE OR INCORRECT ENTRIES RECEIVED WILL BE REFUNDED AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO RE-ENTER WITH FULL INFORMATION.

 

LEGAL LIABILITY

LEGAL LIABILITY  Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the Organisers of any event to which these rules apply, nor the Pony Club, nor any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever.

HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE

The Organisers of this Event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards.

ELIGIBILITY

BEGINNERS RACES

For riders who have not taken part in any Pony Racing before, except for Beginners.  Riders who have won Beginners race or have completed three Beginners Races at a Pony Club Raceday, must step up to the next level.

Ponies are not to have been placed in Open Pony Club or PRA Races in the last two years.

No minimum weight.

 

NOVICE RACES

For riders who have not been placed 1st in a Pony Club (except Beginners) or a PRA Point-to-Point Pony Race before, or taken part in the PRA Racecourse Series, who must be on a pony who has not won an Open Pony Club or PRA Point to Point Pony Race in the last 3 calendar years with another jockey or taken part in any PRA Racecourse Series Race.

No minimum weight.

Combinations taking part in this race must have met qualification criteria.

 

INTERMEDIATE RACES

For combinations who may have won a Novice Race before but not won an Intermediate or an Open Pony Club or PRA Point-to-Point or Racecourse Series Race before.  No restrictions on ponies. 

No minimum weight.

Combinations taking part in this race must have met qualification criteria.

 

128cm OPEN RACE

Combinations of riders and ponies who have been placed in a Pony Club or PRA Race Day.

No minimum weight.

Combinations taking part in this race must have met qualification criteria.

There will be a Best Turned Out award made in each Race by The British Racing School.

Entries in all races will be limited.  Points will be awarded to all pony/rider combinations who take part for the Pony Club Points Series 2025.
