Can they manage to conquer 67 miles in three days?!
An intrepid team of walkers is preparing to set off from The British Racing School on 2nd June, with their sights set on reaching Fakenham Racecourse on the 4th June, just in time for the annual Ladies Day at the Norfolk track.
As part of the Schools 40th Anniversary celebrations and activities, an energetic and (currently) enthusiastic team of staff, ex-students and supporters (and, quite possibly, dogs) will be tackling the three day hike, in order to raise awareness of and funds for BRS.
With the proposed walk in 2022 having been postponed, the organisers have taken the opportunity to refine the originally proposed plans and walkers are no longer going to have to camp overnight each day, but instead will be offered a lift back to the School in the minibus. We’re not sure of the reason for this change, but we suspect that there may have been a little bit of an uprising as the more mature walkers realised how much they will appreciate a nice hot bath at the end of a long day of walking!
Whilst the countryside will undoubtedly be stunning for much of this walk, the event first and foremost is a fundraising activity. With around 80 ex-racehorses on site at any one time, plus extensive facilities to maintain, events such as this are crucial for the future security of the School. All walkers (and those cheering on from the sidelines) are encouraged to generate as much sponsorship as possible.
