British Racing School Horseracing Gap Year
The British Racing School’s Horseracing Gap Year is a brilliant opportunity for students finishing their A-Levels this year to get amazing experience in British horse racing, ahead of starting university in September 2027.
The course includes coaching at the British Racing School’s world-class training facilities in Newmarket, a paid placement at a British racing yard for the winter and 5 months at a racing yard in Australia.
Key information
7 weeks of training at the British Racing School
On successful completion of the course, students will be found a 5 month placement (approx.) as a rider in a UK racing yard, paid in line with industry rates.
5 month placement at a racing yard in Australia, again paid in line with industry rates.
Aimed at A-Level students who already ride to a good standard
Weight limit: 11 stone
Opportunity to enrol on the Horseracing Industry BSc (Hons) degree delivered through the British Racing School and Hartpury University.
Costs
Training at the British Racing School is £950.
