Course overview

An apprenticeship programme which opens the door to the racing industry

WE DO NOT ACCEPT DIRECT ENTRY TO THIS COURSE. This course follows directly on from the Foundation Course. Once you have successfully completed it at The British Racing School, we will find you a full time, fully paid job in a working horseracing yard where you can also continue your apprenticeship training, fully supported by us.

Over the course of the Level 2 Apprenticeship you will complete several modules which cover the basic skills and know-how you will need to make your career in the racing industry, such as riding horses, mucking out, preparing a horse for racing, travelling with a horse to the races, and race day procedures.

Your progress will be tracked via an e-portfolio which will be monitored by your dedicated Workplace Instructor. A BRS Workplace Instructor visits you every few months to make sure you are getting on okay in the yard and completing your work.

At the end of the apprenticeship you return to the BRS for an End Point Assessment which is carried out by an independent body. You will be fully prepared for this in advance and it is mainly a practical and verbal assessment.
