This course is for 16-24 year olds and either follows directly on from the Foundation Course or you are able to join directly if you already have experience of riding and working with thoroughbreds – perhaps through holiday or weekend work at your local racing yard etc. It’s a brilliant way to start your career in racing with a full time paid job in a racing yard, whilst being supported by us throughout your apprenticeship to achieve your Level 2 diploma.

Throughout the Apprenticeship you’ll be supported by one of our brilliant Workplace Insrtuctors who makes sure you are getting on well in your placement, that you have the support you need and who tracks your progress against all of the above modules via an e-portfolio.
At the end of the apprenticeship you return to the BRS for an End Point Assessment which is carried out by an independent body. You will be fully prepared for this in advance and it is mainly a practical and verbal assessment.
This course builds on everything that you learn on the Foundation Course or you can join directly if you already have experience riding or working with racehorses in a racing yard and are at Intermediate Level 1 on the Rider Skills Matrix.
