Over the past few weeks, we have said a fond farewell to two much-loved members of the BRS team, Amigo and Twelve Strings.
While we are sad to see them leave, we are delighted to know they have both gone on to wonderful homes where they can enjoy a well-earned retirement.
Amigo has had a remarkable career. From racing as a three-year-old in France to finishing fourth in the Scottish National and fifth in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham, he has certainly seen it all. A multiple point-to-point winner and a brilliant schoolmaster for his owner-rider, Amigo also became a valued member of the BRS team. He has now returned to his owner’s home, where he is enjoying plenty of grass, new companions and a slower pace of life.
Twelve Strings joined the British Racing School in 2017 and quickly became a favourite with staff and students alike. Over the years, he has helped hundreds of riders build their confidence, from complete beginners to more experienced students. Known for his quirky habit of always needing a lead, he has brought plenty of smiles along the way. More recently, he also played an important role with the Riding A Dream Academy at taster events at Ascot and Epsom racecourses. Now enjoying retirement as a companion horse in Oxfordshire, he has certainly earned his rest.
From everyone at the British Racing School, and the many people whose lives these special horses have touched, we wish Amigo and Twelve Strings a long, happy and relaxing retirement.
