Course in Focus: the Horseracing Industry Foundation Degree

Applications extended for 2023 intake of the Horseracing Industry Foundation Degree!

Run in conjunction with Hartpury University, the Horseracing Industry Foundation Degree offers a further education level qualification for those racing enthusiasts who are looking for their next challenge. The application period has been extended for the 2023 intake (beginning in September) and those wishing to apply can continue to do so until this coming weekend (5/6th August)

This comprehensive program, designed to provide a deep understanding of the horseracing industry, is a fantastic opportunity for career development for anyone wanting to progress formally, with the acquisition of further qualifications.

A two year course, this programme includes eight separate modules, the compilation of two portfolios and results in a Foundation Degree from Hartpury University – a highly respected Further Education provider. Aspiring students will have the opportunity to take part in some one-off opportunities and visits and will have the chance to meet and speak to leading professionals across the industry and one of the unique aspects of this course is its strong industry connections, which provide students with invaluable networking opportunities. With guest lectures from seasoned professionals, field visits to prominent stables, and involvement in actual race events, students will gain real-world insights and forge relationships that can have huge impact in their future racing careers.

As a degree course, the time commitment is significant, although the programme has been specifically designed to make it possible for students to study alongside their full-time employment. There is a requirement for students to attend BRS or Hartpury for one weekend each month in person. Other study can be undertaken remotely, making it an ideal option for those needing to continue their current employment during their studies.
