Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Newmarket yesterday, in their roles as Joint Patrons of the Jockey Club, marking their dedication to horseracing and its community.
Arriving at The National Stud by helicopter, the royal couple toured the educational facilities and met with representatives of the racing industry, including BRS CEO Andrew Braithwaite and former Foundation Course and Riding A Dream Academy students Sienna Anderson and Oshane Marsh.
Having visited BRS in 2023, the passion HM Queen Camilla has for horses is evident, and throughout the visit both Royal Highnesses spent time with horses and learnt more about the education provided at The National Stud, also launching a new initiative, The Jockey Club Patrons Scholarship, aimed at supporting young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds in pursuing careers in horse racing and breeding.
The Riding A Dream Academy, based at the BRS, already supports young people from underserved communities and opens the door for them to become involved in our industry and the courses we have available. It is fantastic to see the new Scholarship being launched, to further extend opportunities for a more diverse workforce.
The British Racing School is delighted to see both Sienna Anderson and Oshane Marsh welcoming the King and Queen, and we are so proud of the achievements in their racing careers, thus far.
