A heartwarming Tuesday morning was spent, despite the rain, when a group of families brought together by Autism in Racing visited the Newmarket Pony Academy.
Hosted by Jane Buick, wife of Champion flat jockey William Buick, the children were able to get involved with grooming the ponies, before having the opportunity to ride in the lunge pit. NPA ponies Polly, Rio, Henry, Flossie and Jack were on their best behaviour and loved the fuss and attention from their new friends.
Autism in Racing is a not for profit organisation set up to support and encourage people with autism to enjoy the sport of horseracing. Through designated racedays across the UK racecourses, to collaborations such as this with the NPA and upcoming dates with the National Stud, Autism in Racing is offering accessibility to the sport we all love.
