Coach Qualification Success

The end of 2018 saw four more Jockeys Coaches successfully pass their Level 3 Coaching Qualification, following an assessment at The British Racing School.
These newly qualified coaches bring the total number of Jockey Coaches on the Jockey Coaching Programme (JCP) with a Level 3 Qualification or higher to 21.
The passes follow the successful launch of a new Jockey Coaching app. Designed to allow coaches and jockeys to access the course on the go, it has a bespoke dashboard containing a brief profile, a log of recent activity and a skills profile covering the different performance areas. It also includes each jockey’s Personal Development Plan to help them monitor their development.
There are over 170 jockeys on the JCP, which is designed to improve the skills and abilities of young jockeys (either Conditional or Apprentice), through the coaching of a UKCC Level 3 Qualified Coach. As well as developing their technical racing skills, the programme also covers motivation, confidence, fitness and communication skills.
This coaching is an invaluable aid in the progression of young jockeys so the addition of more qualified coaches is a real boost to the industry.
