Yard staff gain Coaching Qualification

Rider Coaching Programme
6 Staff Achieve Level 1 Qualification
The first group of Stable Staff in Newmarket, to have taken part in the new scheme which gives senior stable staff a coaching qualification to develop the skills of more inexperienced staff members, have passed their assessment.

The 6 members of racing staff (below) have all achieved their Level 1 Coaching Qualification:

Claire Mackay – James Fanshawe
Tory Hayter – Ed Dunlop
Debbie Catley – Godolphin Pre-training
Hayley Burton – Chris Wall
Svitlana Zinchenko – William Haggas
Jacob Mitchell – Marco Botti

The pilot scheme, which was run by the Northern Racing College last year on behalf of the British Horseracing Authority and jointly funded by the Racing Foundation, aimed to provide senior racing staff with coaching skills that will address gaps within the workforce. The intention is to increase staff retention, as well as giving rider coaches and those they are helping better career progression opportunities.

The interest and response has been brilliant with the scheme now being rolled out Nationally and the first group in Lambourn are due to start their training in Autumn 2019.

And this news couldn’t have come at a better time, as we’re currently in National Coaching Week!  Well done to all those who have achieved their qualification and to those who have taken the initiative to sign up for a course coming soon.
